Umbra Aeterna Part 1

Screams in the night. They echoed throughout the city. A lone figure silhouetted against the night sky, perched atop a local hotel. A banner flapping in the wind was the only movement in the still night.

Draxon raised his scarred head as soon as the sound reached him. Standing he looked down over the ledge of the roof, looking in the direction of the sound he dove headfirst from the building.
Waiting until he was a few feet from the concrete he stretched his wings wide and began to soar down the street. Beating his wings he closed in on the location of the screams, he could only hope he would make it in time.

The hulking wolfen creature hunted its prey down the street, leaping from car to car it toyed with its prey, allowing the pathetic furless creature to think it had escaped and then bounding up alongside it baring his glistening fangs. But the thrill of the hunt grew a bore quickly for the beast, leaping in front of the human he raised his snout and released a deafening roar and raised his clawed fist high, the fear in the eyes of the human were almost as satisfying as it would be to feast on them.

As the claws swiped towards the prey there was a large crack and the smell of burnt fur filled the air and the beasts eyes widened in shock and pain, bellowing in rage it turned to face the insolent fool that dared to harm him.
The first and last thing he saw was a white humanoid hovering in the air on metallic wings, crackling with electricity. Then there was a searing light followed swiftly by an overwhelming darkness.

“What are you?” whimpered the wounded human.
Draxon looked down at him, “Your salvation.”
